Pashto Cinema Returns to Peshawar Screens After Two-Year Gap
News Desk
Peshawar:The Pashto film industry has made a comeback to cinema screens in Peshawar after a gap of two years, with two new Pashto films released on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.
The films, titled ‘Da Kar Di Bad Maari De’ and ‘Da Dusmani Awar’, have drawn audiences to cinemas during the festive holidays and feature prominent Pashto actors including Arbaaz Khan, Jahangir Khan and Shahid Khan.
Both films revolve around the social and emotional consequences of family feuds while promoting messages of peace, brotherhood and traditional Pashtun values.
Filmmakers said the productions aim not only to entertain audiences but also to highlight important social issues, including the harmful effects of enmity and conflicts within families and communities.

They added that Pashto culture and traditions have been prominently portrayed in the films to reconnect viewers with regional storytelling and identity.
Industry representatives expressed hope that the return of Pashto films to cinemas during Eid would help revive the struggling regional film industry, which has faced declining productions and reduced cinema activity in recent years.
Moviegoers in Peshawar welcomed the revival and said audiences would continue supporting the Pashto film industry if filmmakers focus on quality stories, meaningful themes and cultural values.
Cinema owners and filmmakers are optimistic that the Eid releases could mark the beginning of a gradual revival of Pashto cinema in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
