Viral Video: Constable Suspended, Probe Ordered

Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi police have launched an inquiry after a video showing a police constable allegedly abusing a citizen at a police station in Gujar Khan surfaced on social media.
Taking notice of the incident, City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera ordered immediate departmental action against the constable involved.
According to the Rawalpindi Police spokesperson, Constable Ehtesham has been suspended and directed to face a formal charge sheet over the alleged misconduct.
The CPO also instructed SP Saddar to conduct a detailed inquiry into the incident and submit a report after determining the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse.
The action came after footage purportedly showing the constable mistreating a citizen at the Gujar Khan police station circulated on social media, prompting concerns over the conduct of police officials inside stations.
CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera said violence or abusive behaviour toward any citizen would not be tolerated under any circumstances, stressing that police personnel are required to treat members of the public with dignity and respect.
The department has directed that the incident be investigated on merit, while further action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the inquiry.
The case has once again brought attention to accountability within police stations, where citizens frequently approach law-enforcement officials seeking protection and resolution of their complaints.
Rawalpindi police said disciplinary proceedings against the suspended constable would proceed following the inquiry.
