Islamabad: Pakistan’s civil and military leadership on Eid ul Adha urged the nation to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion and unity, while expressing solidarity with Muslims facing oppression in different parts of the world amid growing tensions in the Middle East.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and the military leadership issued separate Eid messages highlighting the spirit of faith, service and national cohesion associated with the religious festival.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Eid ul Adha reflects the timeless lessons of faith, sacrifice and selflessness demonstrated by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Ismail (AS). He called on citizens to remember the underprivileged and share the joy of Eid with those in need.
The premier stressed the importance of strengthening unity, brotherhood and humanitarian values in society. He also expressed solidarity with oppressed Muslims in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and prayed for peace, prosperity and harmony across the Muslim world.
President Asif Ali Zardari described Eid ul Adha as a reminder of obedience to Allah, patience, sincerity and sacrifice, saying true success lies in piety, empathy and service to humanity rather than material wealth or power.
Quoting sayings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the president emphasized caring for neighbours and helping those in need. He said the spirit of sacrifice remains incomplete unless society includes the deprived, widows, orphans, labourers, disabled persons and other underprivileged groups in Eid celebrations.
He also urged the nation to promote tolerance, dialogue, rule of law and collective welfare for national progress and stability.
Meanwhile, Field Marshal Asim Munir, along with the Chief of Air Staff and Chief of Naval Staff, extended Eid greetings to the nation through a message issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The military leadership prayed for lasting peace, prosperity and national unity, while reaffirming the armed forces’ commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ISPR said Eid ul Adha symbolizes sacrifice, faith and unity, and paid tribute to the families of martyrs, stating that their sacrifices had strengthened the foundations of the country.
