Helicopter Sent to Recover Body from Falak Sar

Swat: A helicopter has been dispatched to recover the body of mountaineer Mian Syed Ali Shah from the difficult and glacier-covered slopes of Falak Sar, where he went missing during a climbing expedition last month.

According to Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ahmed, the helicopter was sent on the instructions of Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to support the recovery operation.

Syed Ali Shah reportedly disappeared in the glaciers while attempting to climb Falak Sar on July 17. His body has remained on the mountain for several days because of the challenging terrain and difficult access.

Officials said the location of the body was recently confirmed with the help of drone cameras, allowing rescue authorities to plan a recovery mission.

The deputy commissioner said the rescue team would attempt to bring the body down safely, taking into account the difficult conditions at the peak.

Meanwhile, efforts are continuing to locate another missing mountaineer, Asma Mushtaq. Her body has yet to be found, with rescue teams conducting searches in the surrounding mountainous and glacier-covered areas.

The recovery operation highlights the significant challenges faced by rescue teams working on some of the region’s most difficult peaks, where steep terrain, glaciers and harsh weather can severely limit access.
