UAE–Iran High-Level Contact Signals De-escalation Efforts

In a significant diplomatic development, UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation with Iranian Parliament Speaker Baqir Qalibaf.

According to official sources, the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation and explored measures to reduce tensions. The call marks the first high-level contact between the United Arab Emirates and Iran since the conflict that erupted on February 28 following a US-Israeli attack on Iran.

The development is seen as a notable shift, as the UAE had earlier adopted a firm stance against Tehran, including recalling its ambassador and closing its embassy after Iran targeted Gulf states. Analysts view the renewed engagement as a possible step toward diplomatic de-escalation in the region.
