Muzaffargarh: Two senior revenue officials have been dismissed from service and three others penalised after a departmental inquiry uncovered serious irregularities, including the disappearance of dozens of official land records from the Assistant Commissioner’s Office in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed.
According to a district administration spokesperson, the action was taken on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kot Addu Barrister Bilal Saleem following a comprehensive inquiry into allegations of record tampering, file misplacement and the organised disappearance of government documents from the Colony Branch of the Assistant Commissioner’s Office.
The inquiry, conducted by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue), was launched on complaints filed by citizen Amjad Farooq and others, who alleged corruption, extortion and deliberate obstruction in matters related to allotment files of Mouza 139/ML and Mouza 140/ML.
Investigators found that around 86 official files had gone missing from government custody and identified serious lapses in the maintenance and handling of land records.
Based on the findings, Senior Clerk and Reader to the Assistant Commissioner Malik Riaz and Registry Clerk Ghulam Yaseen were dismissed from service. Meanwhile, Junior Clerks Muhammad Rashid, Muhammad Ansar and Abdul Hafeez were awarded the penalty of stoppage of annual increments.
Commenting on the action, Barrister Bilal Saleem said corrupt and negligent revenue officials were not only damaging the department’s reputation but also undermining public trust.
He vowed that strict accountability would continue to ensure transparency, safeguard public records and improve service delivery to citizens.
