Lahore: New Zealand batter Devon Conway has expressed excitement over his return to Pakistan, saying his past experiences in the country have been memorable and he expects an even better stint this time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Speaking in Lahore, Conway said he has been enjoying his time with Islamabad United, describing the team environment as well-balanced and welcoming.
“I have good memories in Pakistan and now I expect to have an even better time,” he said, adding that his previous visit with the New Zealand side during the ICC Champions Trophy left a lasting impression.
Looking ahead to matches in Karachi, Conway noted that the pitches there suit batting and recalled scoring runs at the venue in the past.
He also praised the hospitality in Lahore, highlighting the quality of food and the warm attitude of people. “Everything is going well, I am really enjoying my stay here,” he added.
Mark Chapman sees tougher PSL with expansion
Islamabad United’s Mark Chapman believes the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has become more competitive following the addition of two new teams, increasing the overall standard of the tournament.
Speaking during a training session in Lahore, Chapman said he was delighted to return to the PSL and was enjoying his time with the franchise after previously representing Quetta Gladiators.
“The competition has grown stronger with more teams. There is a lot of local talent here, especially fast bowlers who consistently bowl above 140 km/h — that’s a big strength of this league,” he said.

Chapman, who was part of Quetta Gladiators’ run to the final last season, said changing franchises brings a fresh environment and new energy. He expressed optimism about building strong chemistry at Islamabad United under captain Shadab Khan, alongside teammates including Devon Conway.
Commenting on Pakistan star Babar Azam, Chapman said the batter’s experience and technique speak for themselves. “He has scored the most runs and half-centuries in the PSL. It’s more about mindset at times, he knows his game well,” he noted.
Chapman also acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in successfully hosting international cricket, calling the overall experience positive. With a busy schedule ahead, he said the team is focused on upcoming matches and building momentum in the tournament.
Looking beyond the PSL, Chapman said his immediate focus remains on the ODI World Cup in South Africa next year, with long-term planning for future global events to follow.
