Arshad Nadeem Falls Short of Podium

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Olympic javelin throw champion Arshad Nadeem was unable to secure a medal at the World Ultimate Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary, finishing fifth in the javelin throw final.

Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Pathiranga claimed the title with a remarkable throw of 91.09 metres on his fourth attempt, emerging as the event’s ultimate champion.

Arshad recorded throws of 74.42 metres, 79.66 metres and 81.49 metres during his attempts, but the distance was not enough to put him among the medal winners.

The result marks a disappointing outing for the Paris Olympics gold medalist, who had been expected to challenge for another major title.

Arshad will now turn his attention to the Asian Games, where he is set to represent Pakistan in the javelin throw competition.
