15-Point Plan vs 6 Demands: US-Iran Peace Clash Explained
News Desk
Islamabad: Diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East have intensified, with details emerging of a proposed ceasefire framework from the United States and a set of counter-conditions from Iran.
According to a report by The New York Times, Washington has presented a 15-point plan to Tehran through Pakistan, which has also offered to host potential negotiations between the two sides.
The reported US proposal includes stringent provisions targeting Iran’s nuclear programme. Under the plan, Iran would be required to dismantle its existing nuclear capabilities and provide firm assurances that it would not pursue nuclear weapons in the future.
Media reports indicate that key Iranian nuclear facilities, including Natanz Nuclear Facility, Isfahan Nuclear Facility, and Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, would be shut down and destroyed. Additionally, enriched uranium stockpiles would be handed over to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) within a specified timeframe.

The plan further calls on Iran to halt financial and military support to its regional allies and ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and free from disruption. While a final decision on Iran’s missile programme would be deferred, initial proposals suggest limiting it to defensive purposes with restrictions on its range and quantity.
In return, the US has reportedly offered to lift all economic sanctions on Iran, remove the threat of reimposing United Nations sanctions, and assist in the completion of Iran’s peaceful nuclear project in Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
Iran’s Six Conditions
Meanwhile, Iranian sources have outlined six key conditions for agreeing to a ceasefire. These include a guaranteed assurance that hostilities will not resume, closure of US military bases in the region, withdrawal of attacking forces, and compensation for damages incurred during the conflict.
Tehran has also called for an end to hostilities across all regional fronts and the establishment of a new legal framework governing the Strait of Hormuz. Its final condition reportedly seeks action against anti-Iran media activities, including the expulsion of individuals or groups deemed hostile.
The developments come as the US administration under Donald Trump explores diplomatic avenues alongside ongoing military considerations to manage the evolving crisis in the region.
