Zalmi Script PSL History with 159-Run Demolition of Kings

Karachi: Peshawar Zalmi delivered one of the most dominant performances in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, crushing Karachi Kings by a staggering 159 runs in a one-sided spectacle in Karachi.
What began as a bold toss decision by Karachi quickly turned into a nightmare. Opting to field first, the Kings found themselves overwhelmed as Zalmi unleashed a batting masterclass that rewrote PSL record books.
Despite an early setback with Mohammad Haris departing for a duck, Zalmi’s innings transformed into a historic onslaught. Skipper Babar Azam anchored the innings with composure, while Kusal Mendis exploded with a breathtaking century—109 off just 52 balls, laced with 14 fours and 4 sixes.
Together, Babar and Mendis stitched a monumental 191-run partnership—the highest ever for any wicket in PSL history—completely dismantling Karachi’s bowling attack. Adding to the milestone night, Babar also became the fastest player to reach 12,000 runs in T20 cricket.
Late fireworks from Abdul Samad, who smashed an unbeaten 40 off 12 deliveries, propelled Zalmi to a daunting 246/3. Abbas Afridi and Khushdil Shah managed two wickets each but failed to stem the flow of runs.
In response, Karachi Kings crumbled under pressure. Their chase never took off, collapsing for just 87 runs in 17 overs in what became one of their heaviest defeats. Azam Khan top-scored with 25, while Saad Baig (14) and Khushdil Shah (10) were the only others to reach double figures.
From a record-breaking partnership to a record margin of victory, Zalmi’s emphatic win not only boosted their campaign but also sent a powerful message to the rest of the league: they mean business this season.
