Karachi: A ruthless bowling display followed by a commanding batting effort powered Islamabad United to a dominant nine-wicket victory over Lahore Qalandars in their PSL 2026 encounter at Karachi on Thursday.

After opting to field first, Islamabad immediately seized control through their spin attack. Imad Wasim set the tone with an early double breakthrough, while captain Shadab Khan lifted the fielding intensity with a spectacular catch to remove Abdullah Shafique.

Lahore struggled to recover as tight spells from the bowlers choked scoring opportunities.

Chris Green and Shadab further dented the Qalandars’ innings, removing key middle-order batters including Haseebullah Khan and Rubin Hermann.

Although Sikandar Raza and Asif Ali attempted to stabilize with a brief partnership, Lahore’s innings unraveled dramatically, collapsing from 72/4 to 100 all out.

Green led the charge with three wickets, while Imad and Shadab provided crucial support. Richard Gleeson wrapped up the tail to cap a disciplined bowling performance.

Chasing a modest target, Islamabad United barely faced resistance. Despite losing Sameer Minhas early, Devon Conway and Mohammad Faiq ensured there were no further hiccups.

The pair capitalized on the Powerplay and maintained a brisk scoring rate throughout.

Conway anchored the chase with an unbeaten half-century, accelerating notably with an aggressive over against Sikandar Raza that all but sealed the outcome.

Faiq provided solid support as Islamabad comfortably reached the target in just over 10 overs, continuing their winning momentum in the tournament.

The emphatic win underlined Islamabad United’s all-round strength, particularly their spin dominance and top-order consistency, as they registered their third consecutive victory.
