Islamabad:  National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a revised mechanism for issuing the Child Registration Certificate (B-Form), introducing a three-stage system aligned with a child’s age and biometric development.

Under the updated policy, each child will now be issued separate B-Forms at different stages of life, with each version carrying distinct features and validity periods.

In the first stage, a B-Form will be issued at birth without a photograph. This initial document will remain valid until the child reaches the age of three.

The second stage begins once the child turns three years old. At this point, a new B-Form will be issued featuring the child’s photograph, and it will remain valid until the age of 10.

In the third stage, applicable to children above 10 years of age, NADRA will issue a more advanced B-Form incorporating biometric data, including a photograph, iris scan, and fingerprints. This version will remain valid until the child turns 18.

The authority has advised parents to ensure timely birth registration with the relevant Union Council within one month of birth and to obtain the initial B-Form without delay. Parents are also encouraged to renew the document as required at each stage.

For registration and renewal, citizens can visit the nearest NADRA office with their child or use the Pak-ID mobile application for online processing.

NADRA emphasized that early compliance with the new system would help avoid difficulties, particularly during school admissions.

Separately, the authority highlighted the rollout of its Iris Recognition System, designed to strengthen identity verification and eliminate duplication. The technology complements existing biometric systems such as fingerprint and facial recognition.

The iris-based system has initially been deployed at selected centers in Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, with plans for gradual expansion to all 700 NADRA registration centers nationwide.
