What Did PM Shehbaz Tell Parliament About US-Iran Talks?

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that ongoing talks between the United States and Iran have created fresh hope for peace and stability in the region.
Addressing the National Assembly, the prime minister described the day as historic and significant, saying substantial progress had been made in negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
He said that important technical-level discussions were held between the two countries, during which a range of issues were discussed in detail. According to the prime minister, the progress achieved in these talks is a positive development not only for the two countries but also for the entire region.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan has consistently supported peace, dialogue, and diplomacy and has played a constructive role in facilitating the resumption of talks between the United States and Iran.
He stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and mediation helped create an environment conducive to dialogue between the two sides.

The prime minister also referred to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, describing it as an important step that could help improve bilateral relations and build mutual trust.
He expressed optimism that the next 60 days would pave the way for a comprehensive peace agreement, contributing to regional stability and reducing tensions at the global level.
Shehbaz Sharif further welcomed the reported ceasefire between Iran and the United States, calling it a positive development that would strengthen the ongoing negotiation process. He expressed hope that both countries would resolve their differences through dialogue and diplomacy.
During his address, the prime minister also touched on the domestic political situation and criticized the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He said the occasion called for unity on matters of national and international importance rather than political controversy.
He added that if PTI was serious about investigations into national issues, the process should begin from 2018 so that all relevant matters could be brought before the public.
