Tehran: Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that repeated broken promises by the United States and Israel remain a major hurdle in achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Tehran. Qalibaf emphasized that continued breaches of commitments by United States and Israel have undermined trust and created significant obstacles to sustainable peace.

Highlighting Iran’s foreign policy priorities, Qalibaf said strengthening ties with neighboring countries remains a permanent and important objective, adding that relations with Pakistan hold special significance due to brotherly ties and aligned government policies.

He reiterated that Iran seeks genuine and comprehensive peace not only within its borders but across the entire region. However, he noted that those who initiated conflicts are now attempting to halt them and must demonstrate sincerity by taking practical steps to rebuild trust.

Qalibaf stressed that while Iran remains committed to peace and security, opposing parties have repeatedly sabotaged efforts through unfulfilled promises. He pointed out that a complete ceasefire across all fronts is a key component of the initial agreement between Iran and the United States, which was facilitated by Pakistan.

In a separate telephone conversation with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Qalibaf described Lebanon as an important part of the broader ceasefire framework.

He added that the ceasefire reflects the resilience of Hezbollah and the unity of the resistance alliance, but cautioned that Iran remains vigilant and will continue its support until complete success is achieved.

Qalibaf also expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their role in facilitating the ceasefire, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to honoring its agreements.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Asim Munir acknowledged the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Lebanon and assured that he would personally oversee its implementation.

He further noted that ongoing consultations are taking place and expressed hope for another meeting with Iranian leadership in Islamabad in the near future.
