Over 400,000 Workers Lead Polio Campaign Efforts

Islamabad: The second National Polio Eradication Campaign of 2026 is progressing successfully across Pakistan, entering its fifth day with millions of children already vaccinated, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
Officials said that more than 400,000 polio workers are actively participating in the campaign, going door to door to administer polio drops to children under five years of age. In addition to vaccination, children are also being given Vitamin A supplements to boost their immunity.
The EOC confirmed that over 42.8 million children have been vaccinated nationwide during the first four days of the campaign, reflecting significant progress in the country’s efforts to eradicate polio.

Provincial data shows that approximately 22.5 million children have been vaccinated in Punjab, while more than 9.693 million children received polio drops in Sindh. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, over 6.833 million children have been immunized.
Meanwhile, around 2.4 million children have been vaccinated in Balochistan, with additional reports indicating that more than 6,000 children in remote areas have also been reached during the campaign.
The campaign is being conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and neighboring Afghanistan, as both countries remain among the last in the world where polio transmission persists.
Health authorities have urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams to ensure every child is protected and to help achieve the goal of a polio-free future.
