Twin Cities on Alert: Govt Employees Work From Home
News Desk
Islamabad: Government employees in Islamabad have been directed to work from home as authorities imposed a high-security alert across the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Monday.
According to official directives, all ministries, divisions, and federal institutions located in the Red Zone will operate remotely for the day. The move comes amid extensive security measures, including the complete closure of the Red Zone for all types of traffic.
Security personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Islamabad Police, and Punjab Police have been deployed at key points, while citizens have been advised to follow an alternative traffic plan due to widespread road closures.

Heavy transport has been barred from entering the federal capital, and major points in Rawalpindi, including Faizabad, Pirwadhai, and Chungi No. 26, have been sealed. Public transport has also been disrupted, with the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus service suspended until further notice.
The impact of the security alert extends beyond government offices, as educational institutions have also shifted to online operations. Both public and private universities are holding classes virtually for the day.
Judicial activity has been suspended as well. The Federal Constitutional Court has canceled its cause list for April 21, while the Islamabad High Court will remain closed.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific reason behind the heightened security measures, but officials say the work-from-home directive is aimed at ensuring safety while maintaining continuity of essential government functions.
