Trump Eyes Swift End to Iran War Within Weeks

News Desk

Washington: Donald Trump has signaled a desire to bring the ongoing conflict with Iran to a swift conclusion, reportedly aiming to end the war within the next four to six weeks.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Trump has told close advisers that he does not want the conflict to drag on and believes it may be entering its final phase. However, officials say peace efforts remain in early stages, with no clear pathway to resolution.

The White House is reportedly planning a summit with Xi Jinping in Beijing in May, hoping diplomatic momentum could help end the war sooner.

Despite this, the US continues to increase pressure in the region by deploying additional troops, while also exploring possible conditions for peace, including access to Iranian oil, though no concrete plan has been finalized.

Analysts note that Trump’s approach appears inconsistent, alternating between diplomacy and the threat of intensified military action.

GCC Demands Role in Talks as Iran Conflict Widens

The Gulf Cooperation Council has raised alarm over escalating regional tensions, with Secretary-General Jassem Mohammed Al-Badawi stating that Iran has directed the majority of its missile attacks toward Gulf countries.

In a televised statement, Al-Badawi said that despite Gulf nations not participating in military operations against Iran, approximately 85 percent of Iranian missiles have targeted the region.

He emphasized that any attack on one Gulf country would be treated as an attack on all, reaffirming the bloc’s collective defense stance. He also stressed the importance of including Gulf nations in any negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict.

Al-Badawi further highlighted concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, alleging that Iran has demanded payments from ships for passage, raising fears over maritime security and global trade disruptions.

Zelensky Says US Seeks Ukraine Help to Defend Middle East Bases

Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed that the United States has sought Ukraine’s assistance in protecting its military bases in the Middle East amid rising threats from Iranian drone attacks.

In a statement shared on social media, Zelensky said Ukrainian teams are already deployed in countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, working to counter drone threats.

He noted that the US is in contact with Ukraine regarding additional support for securing its installations in the region.

The Ukrainian leader also pointed to funding challenges, stating that Ukraine’s defense industry is currently operating at limited capacity.

He added that discussions are ongoing regarding equipment exchanges, as Middle Eastern countries possess certain missile systems Ukraine seeks to access in return for its expertise.
