Lahore: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of heavy rains, snowfall, and thunderstorms affecting most parts of Pakistan over the next 12 to 24 hours.

According to the alert, a westerly wind system will bring strong winds and gusts, while snowfall is expected in the upper and mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Thunderstorms, hail, and windstorms may also hit areas of Punjab and Balochistan.

Cities expected to see rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms include Islamabad, Lahore, Jhelum, Chakwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Mianwali, Murree, Rawalpindi, and Attock.

Other cities such as Khushab, Sargodha, Jhang, Faisalabad, Kasur, Okara, Narowal, DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan are also expected to receive rainfall.

Authorities have cautioned that strong winds, lightning, and hail may damage weak structures, trees, and power lines, while rain could make roads slippery and disrupt traffic. Snowfall in mountainous regions may affect transportation, and continuous rain increases the risk of landslides.

NDMA experts have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, follow weather advisories, drive cautiously, and stay away from trees and unstable structures during storms. Tourists and travelers heading to northern areas are advised to check weather and road conditions before their journey.
