Lahore: The Punjab Health Department has suspended three lady doctors of the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) over alleged irregularities in the submission of medico-legal reports (MLCs) to the Lahore High Court.
According to official sources, the action was taken after the doctors allegedly failed to follow prescribed standard operating procedures (SOPs) and submitted manual medico-legal reports, including reports related to other patients, before the court.
The Lahore High Court reportedly expressed displeasure over the matter during the hearing of the case.
The suspended doctors include Associate Professor Dr Mansoora Mirza, Women Medical Officer Dr. Imra Sabahat, and Dr. Ayesha Umar Khan.
Sources said the suspensions were carried out on the directives of the court, while formal disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against the doctors concerned.
The Health Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparency and strict compliance with medico-legal procedures in public healthcare institutions.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Republic of Congo has reported a sharp rise in Ebola infections, with confirmed cases nearing 600 as health officials intensify efforts to contain one of the country’s largest outbreaks in recent years.
In a statement posted Tuesday, the Congolese government said confirmed cases of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola had climbed to 598, including 115 deaths. Authorities also confirmed that 22 patients had recovered from the disease.
The outbreak was officially declared on May 15, but officials later acknowledged the virus had likely been circulating undetected for several weeks before detection, allowing infections to spread rapidly across multiple regions.
