Rain, thunderstorms likely across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms in several parts of the country from today (Friday) through June 13, bringing possible relief from the ongoing heatwave.
According to the Met Office, weather conditions are expected to change in multiple regions, with rain predicted in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and parts of Balochistan.
The department has also warned of possible cloudburst activity in Lahore this evening. Officials said wind speeds in the city were recorded at 16 kilometres per hour, while humidity levels reached 46 percent.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain accompanied by strong winds has already lowered temperatures in Karak and nearby areas, improving weather conditions after days of intense heat.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that stormy rains and hailstorms may affect several districts of the province from today.
According to the advisory, thunderstorms are expected in upper districts of the Malakand and Hazara divisions, while rain and hail are also likely in Chitral, Dir, Swat and Abbottabad.
Wind and rain have also been forecast for Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Kohat, Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious during strong winds, thunderstorms and possible hailstorms, especially in vulnerable and low-lying areas.
