Multan Sultans Storm to Top After Farhan’s Match-Winning Century
News Desk
Lahore: A blistering unbeaten century from Sahibzada Farhan powered Multan Sultans to a commanding six-wicket victory over Hyderabad Kingsmen in a high-scoring encounter, marking the highest successful run chase in Pakistan Super League history in Lahore.
Chasing a daunting 225, Multan Sultans produced a clinical batting display, reaching the target with ease and climbing to the top of the points table. Farhan remained the standout performer, finishing unbeaten after registering his ninth T20 century, sealing the match in style with a towering six over long-on.
The chase was set up early by an explosive start from Steve Smith, who smashed 46 off just 20 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Multan raced to 108 without loss in just eight overs, maintaining control throughout the innings.
Contributions from Arafat Minhas and Shan Masood further strengthened the chase, while Farhan anchored the innings to perfection, ensuring there were no late hiccups.
Earlier, Hyderabad Kingsmen, led by Marnus Labuschagne, posted an imposing total of 225, a score that would typically be considered defendable. However, missed chances in the field and the impact of heavy dew made conditions difficult for their bowlers, who failed to make early breakthroughs.

Labuschagne admitted that despite posting a strong total, his side could not capitalize. “Getting 225 on the board, you’d normally back yourself, but they batted exceptionally well,” he said, adding that fielding lapses and key bowling decisions proved costly.
Multan skipper Ashton Turner praised his team’s all-round effort, highlighting contributions from all 11 players. He acknowledged challenges posed by wet conditions but expressed confidence in the team’s growing momentum.
Farhan, named Player of the Match, credited his recent domestic form for his consistency and emphasized the importance of converting starts into big scores. He also praised the team environment, noting strong support from the franchise management.
The defeat marks a third consecutive loss for Hyderabad Kingsmen, who will now have a week’s break before their next fixture in Karachi. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans will look to maintain their winning momentum when they face Lahore Qalandars on Friday.
The tournament continues with a double-header scheduled for tomorrow.
