Karachi to Remain Humid With Chance of Drizzle
News Desk
Karachi: Karachi is expected to experience partly cloudy and humid weather with a chance of isolated drizzle on Saturday, while the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned that thunderstorms and heavy rainfall could affect several parts of the country over the next 12 to 24 hours.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to remain between 34°C and 36°C, with humidity levels ranging from 65 to 75 percent.
The Met Office said most parts of Sindh are expected to remain hot and dry during the next 24 hours, although partly cloudy conditions with the possibility of light drizzle are forecast for coastal areas, including Karachi.
Meanwhile, the NDMA has issued a nationwide weather advisory, cautioning that heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms may trigger urban flooding, flash floods, landslides and Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) in vulnerable regions.
The authority said mountainous areas remain at heightened risk due to glacier-related flooding and urged relevant agencies to stay prepared for any emergency situation.
According to the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), the current weather pattern is in line with the seasonal forecast issued several months ago.
The NDMA said it has been continuously sharing advance weather alerts and risk assessments with federal, provincial and district authorities to ensure timely preparedness and an effective response to any weather-related emergencies.
