Karachi Board Bars Removal of Burqa, Abaya at Exam Centres

Karachi: Ghulam Hussain has directed all examination centres across Karachi to ensure that female students are not forced to remove burqa or abaya during ongoing ninth and tenth grade examinations.
Issuing clear instructions, the chairman warned that strict action would be taken against any centre found violating the directive. He emphasized that no complaints of cheating involving such students had been reported so far, dismissing concerns often cited to justify such practices.
In a related move, he also ordered that male invigilators should not be assigned to girls’ examination centres, aiming to maintain a comfortable and respectful environment for students.
Polio Persists Only in Pakistan, Afghanistan: PM Murad
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that Polio has been eradicated worldwide except in Pakistan and Afghanistan, stressing the need for continued vigilance.
Speaking at an event in Karachi, he noted that one polio case has been reported this year in Sujawal and highlighted ongoing efforts to curb the virus. He added that Asifa Bhutto has also pledged support for the anti-polio campaign, while women officials are actively participating in vaccination drives.
Murad Defends Development Projects
Murad Ali Shah also addressed concerns over the Lyari Development Project, stating that criticism from opponents indicates progress on the ground.
He further praised recent diplomatic efforts in Islamabad, saying bringing historically disengaged parties to dialogue after decades reflects significant progress, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari playing an active role.
The chief minister also pointed out that there is a standing court order against blocking national identity cards, urging adherence to legal directives.
