ITP Announces Traffic Plan, Seals Red Zone for April 11–12

Islamabad: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a comprehensive alternate traffic plan for April 11 and 12, announcing the complete closure of the Red Zone and its extended areas for general traffic due to the arrival of foreign delegations in the federal capital.
According to an ITP official, several major arteries of the city will remain closed during the specified period.
These include Kashmir Chowk to Club Road towards Srinagar Highway/Zero Point, Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Serena Chowk, Shakarparian Road from Chand Tara Chowk to 7th Avenue, Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban Chowk to Blue Area, and Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail-3.
Additionally, traffic on Islamabad Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk will remain suspended on both sides. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid these routes and opt for alternate roads to minimize inconvenience.

The ITP also announced a complete ban on the entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad during April 11–12. Commuters traveling from GT Road Peshawar towards Rawalpindi have been advised to use the Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Beli Road, and Rawat Road.
Similarly, those traveling from Lahore GT Road towards Peshawar should follow the Rawat–Chak Beli–Chakri–Taxila Motorway route.
Residents of G-5, F-6, F-7, G-6, and G-7 sectors traveling to and from Rawalpindi via Margalla Road have been directed to use 9th Avenue. Traffic from Faisal Avenue heading towards Zero Point will also be diverted to 9th Avenue.
For commuters traveling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi, Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lehtrar Road, and GT Road have been suggested as alternate routes.
Meanwhile, traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad via Saddar Road should use 9th Avenue, while vehicles from Colonel Sher Khan Road towards Faisal Avenue are advised to use Stadium Road via the 9th Avenue signal.

Authorities further directed traffic traveling from Peshawar to Lahore to use the Taxila Motorway and Tarnol Phatak to Fateh Jang Motorway. Heavy vehicles from Lahore GT Road towards Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be rerouted through Chak Beli Road and Chakri Motorway.
The Islamabad Traffic Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring smooth traffic management and public facilitation during the high-level visit.
Separately, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, visited multiple duty points across the city to review security arrangements. Accompanied by senior officers, the IGP met field personnel and briefed them on the sensitivity of their assignments.
He directed officials to further strengthen checking mechanisms, emphasizing strict, effective, and well-coordinated security measures.
“Protection of the federal capital is our foremost responsibility, and there is no room for negligence,” the IGP stated, urging officers to remain vigilant while ensuring maximum facilitation for citizens to maintain smooth traffic flow.
