US Delegation Arrives in Islamabad for Talks

Islamabad:A high-level United States delegation led by Vice President arrived in Islamabad on Saturday to participate in the Islamabad Talks, aimed at advancing diplomatic engagement in the region.
The delegation includes Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior official Jared Kushner. Upon arrival, they were received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, according to a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
Welcoming the visiting delegation, Dar commended the United States’ commitment to promoting regional and global peace and stability.
He expressed hope that all parties would engage constructively during the talks and reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to facilitate efforts toward a lasting and durable resolution of the conflict.

Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has called on both the United States and Iran to seize the opportunity presented by the Islamabad Talks to de-escalate tensions.
Speaking through his spokesperson at the regular briefing at UN Headquarters in New York, Guterres urged the parties to engage in good faith and emphasized that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward. He stressed the importance of resolving differences in accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
The UN chief’s Personal Envoy for the Middle East, Jean Arnault, remains in the region to support ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The Islamabad Talks are being closely watched as a significant diplomatic initiative, with Pakistan playing a facilitative role in bringing key stakeholders together in pursuit of peace and stability.
