Iranian delegation arrives in Islamabad for high-level talks

Islamabad: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moqadam has confirmed that an Iranian delegation will arrive in Islamabad tonight to participate in talks hosted at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the ambassador, the discussions will focus on Iran’s 10-point proposals, with both sides expected to engage in serious deliberations aimed at advancing diplomatic progress.
The ambassador added that the visit comes amid efforts to strengthen dialogue, while also alleging that recent Israeli actions are being viewed as attempts to disrupt the diplomatic process.
He expressed optimism that meaningful progress could emerge from the talks being held in Pakistan.
Traffic plan enforced in Islamabad ahead of foreign delegations’ arrival
Authorities have implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan in Islamabad due to the arrival of foreign delegations for the talks. The measures aim to facilitate movement while ensuring security and minimizing disruptions across key routes in the capital.
According to traffic police, commuters traveling from GT Road Peshawar to Rawalpindi have been advised to use the Taxila Motorway via Chakri, Chak Belly Road, and Rawat.

Similarly, those traveling from Lahore to Peshawar are directed to follow the Rawat–Chak Belly Road–Taxila Motorway route.
Motorists moving from Margalla Road to Rawalpindi are instructed to use Ninth Avenue, while those coming from Rawalpindi to Islamabad via Murree Road should also divert to Ninth Avenue. Traffic from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will be redirected, and the expressway between Zero Point and Koral Chowk will remain closed on both sides.
Authorities have also imposed a temporary ban on heavy traffic entering Islamabad for two days.
Islamabad announces two-day local holiday amid diplomatic activity
In light of the visiting delegations, the Islamabad district administration has declared a two-day local holiday. All schools and offices in the capital will remain closed on Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10.
However, essential services will continue to operate as usual during this period, ensuring continuity of critical public functions while diplomatic engagements take place in the capital.
