Constitutional Court Admits Petition Against CM Afridi

Islamabad: The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) has admitted for formal hearing a petition seeking the disqualification of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi.

The petition was heard by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan.

Petitioner Sher Afzal Marwat appeared before the court in person and presented arguments in support of his plea. He contended that a chief minister’s resignation must be submitted voluntarily and without external direction.

Marwat told the court that former KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur had stated in his resignation letter that he was stepping down on the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan.

After admitting the petition for a formal hearing, the Federal Constitutional Court issued a notice to Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, seeking his response to the allegations raised in the petition.
