Iran Claims Strikes on US Targets Across Region

Tehran: Iran has claimed to have widened its military response to ongoing US airstrikes, announcing attacks on alleged American military positions in Syria, Bahrain and Kuwait, as fighting between the two countries entered its sixth consecutive night.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted the US Special Operations Command Centre at Al-Tanf in Syria, describing the strike as retaliation for the killing of Iranian soldiers in Iranshahr.

Iranian state media carried the claim, but it could not be independently verified, and neither the US military nor Syrian authorities immediately commented.

The Al-Tanf base, located near the Syria-Jordan-Iraq border, was previously used by US forces, although Washington announced earlier this year that it had completed its withdrawal from the facility.

The latest claims came as the United States continued overnight airstrikes on military and infrastructure targets across Iran.

Iranian media reported that at least two people were killed and 14 others injured in the latest attacks, with strikes hitting Hormozgan province, Bandar Abbas, Iranshahr Airport and Qeshm Island.

Authorities also reported damage to bridges, communication infrastructure and railway facilities.

Before the operation, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had launched a new wave of strikes against Iran, later confirming that the operation had concluded and was aimed at further degrading Iran’s military capabilities.

In response, Iran claimed it launched drone attacks on US-linked military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, including the Sakhir base. Kuwaiti authorities said their air defence systems intercepted the attacks, adding that while some installations suffered material damage, no casualties were reported.

Separately, the IRGC reiterated that Iran maintains full control over the Strait of Hormuz, warning that continued US military action could disrupt oil and gas exports through the strategic waterway.

The escalating exchanges have heightened concerns over a broader regional conflict, with tensions already spilling across multiple fronts in the Middle East. Independent verification of several battlefield claims from both sides remains unavailable.
