Islamabad: While Karachi is expected to experience light drizzle and partly cloudy skies, much of Pakistan continues to face intense summer conditions, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting extreme heat in Balochistan and hot, dry weather across most parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

In Karachi, the PMD forecast partly cloudy and humid weather with drizzle in isolated areas. The city’s maximum temperature is expected to reach 35°C. Early Friday, the temperature stood at 28.4°C, humidity was 75%, and winds were blowing at 15 km/h.

Balochistan remains under the grip of severe heat, with dry weather expected across most districts. Temperatures climbed to 45°C in Sibi and Nokundi, while Quetta recorded 39°C, Zhob 37°C, Turbat 38°C, and Chaman 40°C. Coastal cities Gwadar and Jiwani recorded comparatively lower highs of 33°C.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the PMD predicted hot and dry conditions in most districts, with humidity expected to intensify the heat in the plains. However, isolated rain is likely in parts of the Hazara and Malakand divisions. Peshawar recorded 33°C with 53% humidity, while temperatures ranged from 20°C in Chitral to 34°C in Bannu.

Lahore is also experiencing oppressive weather, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 40°C. The city’s current temperature was 36°C, but humidity of 49% has pushed the feels-like temperature to 43°C, which could rise to 47°C later in the day. Winds remained light at 8 km/h, contributing to the uncomfortable conditions.

The Meteorological Department said there is no chance of rain in Lahore and advised people across heat-affected areas to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, stay hydrated and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
