BTS Comeback Turns Seoul Into Global Music Hub

Islamabad: Global K-pop phenomenon BTS made a historic return to the stage with a record-breaking public concert in Seoul, marking their first full-group performance after completing mandatory military service.
Held at the iconic Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, the free event drew an estimated 260,000 fans, making it the largest public concert ever staged in South Korea. While only a limited number of ticket holders were granted access to the main viewing area, massive crowds gathered around the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace to witness the group’s long-awaited reunion.
The one-hour performance, titled “BTS The Comeback Live Arirang,” also served as the launch of their fifth studio album, Arirang, inspired by Korea’s traditional folk heritage. Embracing this theme, the group opened the show with a symbolic walk along the ceremonial “King’s Road,” dressed in striking black-and-white outfits designed by Seoul-based label Songzio.
Behind the scenes, the масштаб production presented significant logistical challenges. Acclaimed British director Hamish Hamilton, known for helming global events like the Super Bowl halftime show, described the concert as one of the most demanding projects of his career, citing limited rehearsal time in a large public setting.
The landmark event not only celebrated BTS’s long-awaited comeback but also highlighted South Korea’s cultural heritage on a global stage, drawing unprecedented crowds and worldwide attention.
