Hanif Abbasi Condemns Quetta Train Blast
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Sunday strongly condemned the explosion targeting a shuttle train near Chaman Phatak in Quetta, describing the incident as a “cowardly act of terrorism” that would not weaken the country’s resolve against militancy.
In a statement issued from Islamabad, the minister alleged that anti-Pakistan elements operating from India and Afghanistan were sponsoring terrorism to destabilize the country and spread fear among the public.
According to railway authorities, the shuttle train travelling from Quetta Cantonment was struck by the blast near Chaman Phatak. The explosion derailed three coaches, including the locomotive, while two coaches overturned due to the impact.
Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched rescue and relief operations. Rescue vehicles and a special relief train were dispatched to the site to assist in emergency response efforts and evacuate passengers.
Hanif Abbasi said terrorists were enemies of both humanity and the state, adding that those involved would meet a “disgraceful end.” He further claimed that terrorist networks backed from across the borders would never succeed in their attempts to undermine Pakistan’s stability.
The railways minister directed relevant authorities to submit an immediate report on the incident and reaffirmed that operational activities of Pakistan Railways would continue uninterrupted despite the attack.
