Islamabad: Restaurants and food outlets across Islamabad face stricter scrutiny as the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) prepares to launch a citywide enforcement campaign against unregistered businesses from December 1.
The authority has given food businesses until November 30 to complete their registration, after which establishments operating without valid registration could face sealing and heavy fines.
Deputy Director Operations IFA Dr. Tahira Siddique told APP that inspection teams will begin daily checks from December 1 to identify unregistered restaurants and food points and verify compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
According to the authority, immediate action will be taken against businesses found operating without registration or violating prescribed safety standards.
The IFA has advised restaurant and food outlet owners to complete the registration process before the deadline to avoid penalties and possible closure of their businesses.
The enforcement drive is part of the authority’s broader effort to strengthen food safety standards in the capital and ensure that restaurants and other eateries maintain proper hygiene and safety measures.
The IFA said regular inspections will continue after the crackdown to monitor compliance and safeguard public health across Islamabad’s food and hospitality sector.
