Karachi: As the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 crosses its halfway stage, the tournament has begun to reveal its true contenders and struggling sides. With 20 matches completed and each of the eight teams having played five games, the points table is now offering a clearer picture of the race to the playoffs.

The opening phase of the tournament unfolded in Lahore, where the first 14 matches set the tone for the competition. Now, the action has shifted to National Stadium, where the battle for supremacy continues to intensify.

Hyderabad Breakthrough, But Struggles Continue

In the 20th match of the tournament, the Hyderabad Kingsmen finally secured their first victory, defeating Karachi Kings by four wickets.

Despite this breakthrough, Hyderabad’s campaign has been far from smooth. Having suffered defeats in their first four matches, against Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi, they remain in seventh place with just one win and four losses.

Below them sits the Rawalpindi team, enduring a disastrous campaign, having lost all five of their matches. Their defeats came against Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators.

Mid-Table Congestion: A Tight Race

The middle of the table remains tightly contested. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators find themselves in unfamiliar territory, occupying sixth and fifth positions respectively. Both teams have secured two wins but suffered three defeats, leaving them with four points each.

Position Team Matches Wins Losses No Result Points
1 Peshawar Zalmi 5 4 0 1 9
2 Multan Sultans 5 4 1 0 8
3 Islamabad United 5 3 1 1 7
4 Karachi Kings 5 3 2 0 6
5 Quetta Gladiators 5 2 3 0 4
6 Lahore Qalandars 5 2 3 0 4
7 Hyderabad Kingsmen 5 1 4 0 2
8 Rawalpindi team 5 0 5 0 0

Karachi Kings, despite their recent loss, hold fourth place with three wins and two defeats, accumulating six points and staying firmly in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Just above them, Islamabad United sits in third place with seven points. Their campaign includes three wins, one loss, and one rain-affected match, highlighting both consistency and missed opportunities.

Top Two Pull Ahead

At the top end of the table, Multan Sultans have emerged as a strong contender, winning four of their five matches to secure eight points and second place.

However, it is Peshawar Zalmi who have set the benchmark so far. Unbeaten in the tournament, Zalmi have won four matches, with one game washed out by rain, giving them a total of nine points and a clear lead at the top.

PSL Tournament Outlook

With the league stage gaining momentum, the contrast between in-form teams and struggling sides is becoming increasingly evident. While Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans are establishing dominance, teams like Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators will need a strong turnaround to defend their reputations.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Kingsmen’s long-awaited win offers a glimmer of hope, but time is running out for lower-ranked teams—especially the winless Rawalpindi side.

As PSL 11 moves deeper into its Karachi leg, every match now carries greater weight, with playoff ambitions hanging in the balance and the competition growing fiercer by the day.
