11 Killed, 1,010 Injured as Punjab Sees Surge in Accidents

Lahore: Punjab’s road safety situation continues to raise concerns as nearly 1,000 traffic accidents were reported across the province within a single day, leaving 11 people dead and more than 1,000 injured.
According to official rescue data, a total of 971 road crashes occurred during the past 24 hours. Of those injured, 594 victims suffered serious injuries and were shifted to hospitals, while 416 people received immediate medical assistance at the accident sites.
The figures highlight the growing risks faced by road users, particularly motorcyclists. Among those affected were 835 motorbike riders, making motorcycles the most frequently involved vehicles in the reported accidents. The victims also included 500 drivers, 30 underage drivers, 92 pedestrians, and 429 passengers.
Lahore recorded the highest number of incidents, with 260 accidents affecting 263 people, reflecting the increasing pressure on the provincial capital’s road network. Multan followed with 89 crashes involving 76 victims, while Faisalabad ranked third with 76 accidents and 80 affected individuals.
The accidents involved a wide range of vehicles, including auto-rickshaws, cars, vans, passenger buses, trucks, and other transport vehicles, in addition to slow-moving carts.
