Five Killed, Over 30 Injured in Eid Traffic Accidents

Lahore: At least five people lost their lives and more than 30 were injured in multiple traffic accidents across Bahawalnagar district during the Eid holidays, rescue officials reported on Sunday.
The injured, including women, children, and elderly persons, were promptly shifted to nearby hospitals. Authorities described the incidents as tragic and alarming.
According to rescue sources, the first accident occurred near Faqirwali on the Bahawalnagar–Fort Abbas Road, where a speeding car collided with a motorcycle, killing 23-year-old Fazal and his two-year-old nephew Usman on the spot.
In another fatal incident on Manchanabad Road near Sunar Wali Road, a loader rickshaw collided with a motorcycle, claiming the lives of two brothers, Umar Farooq and Yousaf, residents of Chak Laleeka, while their third brother sustained critical injuries.
A third accident near Shehbazwala involved a reckless vehicle hitting a pedestrian, who died on the spot. Rescue officials noted that all victims were either traveling or moving for Eid-related activities, adding to the heartbreak.
Authorities emphasized that over-speeding and violations of traffic rules were the primary causes behind these accidents. They urged citizens to drive cautiously, follow traffic regulations, and remain vigilant to prevent further tragedies during the festive season.
Two Killed in Haroonabad Road Accident
Two people were killed in a road accident in the Faqirwali area of Haroonabad, Bahawalnagar district, TV channels quoting rescue officials reported on Monday.

Initial reports indicate that a rashly driven car collided with a motorcycle in the area, killing both riders on the spot. Rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving emergency calls and shifted the deceased to the hospital.
Authorities reiterated the importance of safe driving, particularly during holiday travel, to prevent further loss of life.
Over 40 Zaareen Fall Ill Due to Alleged Food Poisoning in Multan
More than 40 zaireen (pilgrims) fell ill after allegedly consuming contaminated ‘kheer’ near the Kot Sarwar Shaheed shrine on Shujaabad Road, rescue officials reported.
The affected pilgrims, traveling from Faisalabad in a bus, began experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting shortly after eating. Emergency teams from Rescue 1122 were dispatched immediately.
Four ambulances reached the site to provide first aid, while 31 patients were transported to Nishtar-II Hospital and DHQ Hospital on Muzaffargarh Road for further treatment.
The remaining victims were being shifted in phases as relief operations continued.
Rescue personnel confirmed that medical assistance and monitoring were ongoing, while authorities cautioned travelers to ensure the safety of food and water during pilgrimages.
