Six Killed in 24 Hours as Violence Surges Across Peshawar

Peshawar: A sudden surge in violent incidents across the provincial capital has left at least six people dead over the past 24 hours, raising serious concerns over law and order in Peshawar city. 

The incidents include targeted killings, domestic disputes, a recovered body, and an attack on a polio vaccination team.

According to police officials, the violence spans multiple areas and involves varied motives, reflecting a deteriorating security situation in parts of the city.

In the Sarband police limits, unidentified armed men shot dead two people, including a woman, in the Sango area.

In a separate incident in Tuda Khazana, a three- to four-year-old boy, Waleed, son of Khalid, was killed during a property dispute, while his uncle sustained injuries in the same attack.

Meanwhile, within the jurisdiction of Nasir Bagh police station, the body of a 32-year-old motorcycle mechanic, Maaz Ahmed, was recovered from Malik Town, Mohammad Gul Garhi. Police suspect it to be a case of targeted killing.

In another alarming development in Armar, unidentified attackers opened fire on a health department worker engaged in an anti-polio campaign, intensifying concerns over the safety of frontline health staff.

Separately, the body of a 16-year-old boy, Mudassir, son of Gul Khan, who had drowned in Bara Khwar near Tarnab Farm along GT Road, was recovered after six days of search efforts.

In a further incident in the Pushtakhara police jurisdiction, a proclaimed offender identified as Sartaj alias Sartaje was killed during an exchange of fire between police and criminal elements. Authorities stated he was reportedly hit by gunfire from his own accomplices during the encounter.

Police and security officials have expressed alarm over the rising trend of violence and stressed the need for enhanced security measures to restore public safety in the provincial capital.
