Security Forces Neutralise 13 Militants in Khyber, Bannu IBOS

Rawalpindi: Security forces allegedly eliminated 13 India-backed militants in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOS) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorism in the region, the military’s media wing said on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out in Khyber’s Bara area and Bannu following reports of militant presence.
In the first operation in Bara, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, 10 militants were killed on the spot.
In a separate operation in Bannu, troops neutralised three more militants during a gun battle.

The ISPR stated that sanitisation operations are underway in both areas to ensure the elimination of any remaining militants. It reiterated that the armed forces remain committed to continuing counterterrorism efforts under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” strategy to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Pakistan has witnessed a surge in militant attacks since the Afghan Taliban took control of Afghanistan in 2021, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which border Afghanistan.
In response to the escalating threat, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq,” during which hundreds of militants were killed and many others injured. Authorities have also reported the destruction of numerous militant checkposts along the border.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have remained high, with border clashes reported in October 2025 following attacks on Pakistani posts by militants.
Despite multiple rounds of dialogue, both sides have yet to reach a consensus, largely due to differences over action against militant groups operating in the region.
