PTI Revises Islamabad March Route Ahead of September 27

Peshawar: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has revised its plan for the party’s September 27 long march toward Islamabad, with provincial convoys now expected to move first to Swabi before a decision is taken on proceeding toward the federal capital.

According to party sources, PTI convoys leaving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 27 will travel via the motorway to Swabi rather than heading directly toward Islamabad.

Sources said that if the route remains open, the convoys could subsequently be directed toward Haripur. A decision on whether to proceed from there toward Islamabad is expected to be taken on September 28 after assessing the prevailing situation.

The reported plan emerged from a meeting of the PTI parliamentary party, where lawmakers also called on the Punjab leadership to closely monitor developments surrounding the march.

According to participants cited by party sources, some lawmakers stressed that the scale of participation from Punjab would be important to the march’s overall impact.

Sources further said that the meeting discussed the possibility of ending the long march if the demand for daily hearings of cases involving PTI founder Imran Khan is accepted.

Some lawmakers also criticised what they described as the alleged arrest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Lahore, calling it a “childish act.”

PTI had previously announced September 27 as the date for its long march toward Islamabad. The party’s KP leadership had maintained that the date would remain unchanged, while details of the route and subsequent movement have now been revised, according to party sources.
