Petrol Up Rs6.88, Diesel Rs5.62 as Fuel Costs Rise

Islamabad: The government has increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel under the daily pricing mechanism, citing higher international oil prices and continued uncertainty in global markets.
According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs5.62 per litre, taking the new price to Rs421.45 per litre.
The price of petrol has been raised by Rs6.88 per litre, bringing it to Rs391.22 per litre.
The revised prices will take effect from September 17.
In a statement, the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division said international petroleum prices remain elevated amid prevailing uncertainty in global markets. It said the increase in domestic petrol and diesel prices reflects the rise in international oil prices.
The ministry said the latest adjustments were made after taking into account Platts rates, premiums and other relevant factors linked to international petroleum markets.
The latest increase will add to fuel costs for motorists and transport operators as the government continues to adjust petroleum prices in line with movements in global oil markets.
