Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Upper Parts from April 16–19

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain-wind/thunderstorms, accompanied by isolated heavy falls and hailstorms, in the upper regions of the country from April 16 to 19 due to a westerly weather system.
According to the Met Office, the system will enter northwestern parts on April 16 and persist with intermittent activity over upper regions during the period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, widespread rain, thunderstorms and snowfall over mountains are expected in areas including Chitral, Swat, Dir, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra and Abbottabad. Southern districts may receive light rain on April 17 and 18.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain with snowfall over mountains is likely in Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit and surrounding areas from April 16 to 19.
Similarly, Azad Jammu and Kashmir will experience thunderstorms and hailstorms between April 17 and 19, with heavier rainfall expected on April 18 and 19.
In parts of Punjab and Islamabad, including Rawalpindi, Lahore and Murree, thunderstorms and hailstorms are forecast from April 16 to 18.
The Met Office has warned of possible landslides in vulnerable hilly areas and flash flooding in regions such as Dir, Swat and Chitral. Windstorms and lightning may also damage weak structures, including electric poles and solar panels.

Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops, while tourists and travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary movement during the forecast period.
Heavy Rainfall Warning Issued Across Several Regions of Saudi Arabia
National Center for Meteorology has warned of heavy rainfall affecting multiple regions of Saudi Arabia, including parts of Riyadh, Makkah, Aseer and Al-Baha.
According to the weather authority, rainfall may lead to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas and could be accompanied by hail and strong winds, reducing visibility.
NCM spokesperson Hussain Al-Qahtani urged residents to remain cautious, especially in flood-prone areas, and to follow official safety guidelines and updates.
Authorities have advised the public to avoid risky areas and take necessary precautions as the weather system continues to impact the affected regions.
