Pakistan Playing ‘Sincere’ Role in Iran-US Backchannel Talks: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan is making sincere efforts to facilitate indirect talks between Iran and the United States, while cautioning that the outcome remains uncertain.

Speaking informally, the prime minister said Pakistan is “trying its best with good intentions,” adding that “the rest is in the hands of Allah.”

According to sources, Pakistan is acting as a mediator by relaying proposals and responses between Washington and Tehran at a time when direct negotiations remain stalled.

Officials familiar with the process said the backchannel communication has helped maintain contact despite rising tensions and mutual distrust.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also maintained a cautious stance, refraining from sharing detailed updates on the progress of the talks.

Diplomatic observers say Pakistan’s role reflects its strategic ties with both countries and its interest in promoting regional peace and stability.
