Non-Bailable Warrants Issued for CM Afridi

Islamabad: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and eight Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in cases related to protests in the federal capital.

The warrants were issued in separate cases registered with the Ramna and Margalla police stations.

In the Ramna case, the court issued fresh non-bailable warrants for Sohail Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi, Shahid Khattak and Shafi Jan.

Special ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra directed the SHO of Ramna police station to arrest the four accused and produce them before the court.

In a separate case registered with Margalla police station, the court issued non-bailable warrants for eight PTI lawmakers and leaders. The accused include Shahid Khattak, Maulana Naseem Ali Shah, Aamir Dogar, Atif Khan, Iqbal Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi, Dr Amjad and Shafi Jan.

Meanwhile, four PTI workers arrested in connection with a February 15 protest on Shahrah-e-Dastur were presented before ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain.

The court approved the request to place the accused on judicial remand and ordered that they be sent to Adiala Jail for an identification parade.

The cases stem from protests and alleged acts of violence in Islamabad. The latest court orders add to the legal proceedings against PTI leaders and workers in connection with demonstrations in the capital.
