Death Sentence for Killer, Nine-Year Jail Term for Drug

Rawalpindi: A court in Rawalpindi has sentenced a man to death for killing a citizen in a firing incident, following effective prosecution and presentation of solid evidence by Rawalpindi Police.
According to police, the court also ordered convict Zubair-ur-Rehman to pay Rs1 million in compensation to the victim’s family.
The case was registered at Saddar Baruni Police Station in August 2020. Police said the conviction was secured on the basis of strong evidence and effective prosecution.
Rawalpindi Police described the death sentence as a significant achievement in ensuring justice and holding criminals accountable.
SP (Saddar) Anam Sher held an open court at Police Lines Headquarters and listened to complaints from citizens, directing concerned officers to resolve their issues within the prescribed timeframe.
According to police, the SP issued instructions for legal action on applications submitted by citizens and ordered officers to ensure timely resolution of their complaints.
Anam Sher warned that negligence in addressing citizens’ problems would not be tolerated and directed police officials to ensure effective service delivery at police stations.
She said the protection of citizens’ lives and property and provision of facilities to them remained a top priority. She added that all necessary measures were being taken in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Rawalpindi: A court has sentenced a drug supplier to nine years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs80,000 after he was convicted in a narcotics case, Rawalpindi Police said.
According to police, Waris Khan Police arrested the convict, identified as Shabbir, in March 2026 and recovered 1.4 kilograms of hashish from his possession.
Following the presentation of solid evidence and effective prosecution, the court handed down the sentence and fine.
Rawalpindi Police said it was taking all possible measures to curb drug trafficking and eradicate the menace of narcotics from the city.
