NA Approves Over Rs 4.23 Trillion in Grants for FY 2026–27

Islamabad: The National Assembly on Sunday approved 89 demands for grants amounting to Rs 4,232,042,472,151 (approximately Rs 4.23 trillion) to finance operational and development expenditures of various ministries for the financial year 2026–27.

The approvals were made without cut motions during a session presided over by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. The demands were presented by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

Among major allocations, Rs 22.57 billion were approved for the Atomic Energy sector, Rs 2.35 billion for the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Rs 22.96 billion for the Intelligence Bureau Division, and Rs 1.31 billion for the Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Division.

The Commerce Division received Rs 27.90 billion, while Rs 36.13 billion were allocated for the Communications Division. Pakistan Post Office was granted Rs 25.53 billion.

In the defence sector, Rs 3 trillion were approved for Defence Services, along with Rs 17.10 billion for the Defence Division, Rs 1.14 billion for the Defence Production Division, Rs 21.65 billion for the Airports Security Force, and Rs 17.58 billion for Federal Government Educational Institutions in Cantonments and Garrisons.

Economic and planning-related allocations included Rs 985 million for the Economic Affairs Division and Rs 14.02 billion for miscellaneous expenditures. The Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division received Rs 9.58 billion, while Rs 1.32 billion was allocated for the Privatisation Division.

For education, Rs 42.74 billion were approved for the Federal Education and Professional Training Division, Rs 66.43 billion for the Higher Education Commission, Rs 1.09 billion for NAVTTC, and Rs 2.60 billion for the National Heritage and Culture Division. The National Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyeen Authority received Rs 115.78 million.

In foreign affairs, Rs 5.01 billion were allocated for the Foreign Affairs Division, Rs 63.15 billion for foreign missions, and Rs 3.73 billion for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.

Human rights institutions also received funding, including Rs 1.83 billion for the Human Rights Division, Rs 271.18 million for the National Commission for Human Rights, Rs 97.77 million for the National Commission on the Rights of Child, and Rs 131.96 million for the National Commission on the Status of Women.

Other allocations included Rs 11.12 billion for the Law and Justice Division, Rs 7.73 billion for the National Accountability Bureau, Rs 1.84 billion for the District Judiciary (ICT), Rs 1.12 billion for the Federal Shariat Court, and Rs 322.35 million for the Council of Islamic Ideology.

The Information and Broadcasting Division received Rs 11.01 billion, along with Rs 15.89 billion in miscellaneous expenditures. The Information Technology and Telecommunication Division was allocated Rs 22.49 billion.

Health services were allocated Rs 37.22 billion for the National Health Services Division.

Other major allocations included Rs 2.34 billion for Maritime Affairs, Rs 9.03 billion for the National Assembly, Rs 3.21 billion for the Senate, Rs 1.20 billion for Parliamentary Affairs, and Rs 2.09 billion for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony.

The Railways Division received Rs 70.47 billion, while key sectors such as Science and Technology and Water Resources were allocated Rs 15.97 billion and Rs 4.24 billion respectively.

Development and capital expenditures were also approved across multiple sectors, including Rs 46 billion for HEC development, Rs 19.58 billion for IT and Telecom development, Rs 55.25 billion for Water Resources development, Rs 27.62 billion for planning projects, and Rs 40.65 billion for Railways capital outlay.

Large-scale development loans and advances were also approved, including Rs 59.25 billion for Communications and Rs 47.83 billion for Water Resources.
