Man Held for Assaulting Minor Girl in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi/ Islamabad: Police in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have arrested suspects in three separate cases involving violence against a minor girl, a citizen, and a woman, officials said on Tuesday.

In Rawalpindi, Dhamial Police arrested a suspect allegedly involved in sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

According to a police spokesman, the accused had repeatedly abused the victim through blackmail. The case was registered promptly on the complaint of the girl’s father, leading to the arrest.

The victim’s medical examination is under way, while police said the accused would be challaned in court with strong evidence to ensure conviction.

Superintendent of Police Saddar, Anam Sher, stated that crimes against women and children would be dealt with strictly.

Husband Arrested for ‘Setting Wife on Fire’

In Islamabad, ICT Police arrested a man identified as Wahid Ahmed within hours for allegedly setting his wife on fire in the Kirpa area.

According to officials, the victim’s mother reported the incident, after which police registered a case and launched an immediate operation.

Initial investigations suggest the suspect set his wife ablaze by sprinkling petrol following a domestic dispute. The injured woman was shifted to PIMS Hospital, where she is receiving treatment.

Police said further investigation is under way and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice in such heinous crimes.

Two Arrested for Killing Citizen

In another incident, Saddar Barooni Police apprehended two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a citizen following a minor dispute.

Police said the suspects were playing cricket in a graveyard when the victim asked them to stop, leading to a verbal altercation. The suspects later opened fire, killing the citizen.

After the incident, the accused went into hiding but were traced and arrested using technical and human intelligence.

Raids are ongoing to arrest their accomplices. Police said a strong challan would be prepared to ensure exemplary punishment.

Section 144 Imposed in Rawalpindi for Two Weeks

The district administration of Rawalpindi has imposed Section 144 for 15 days to maintain law and order, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

According to the official order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, the restrictions will remain in force from April 6 to April 20 across the district.

Under the order, all gatherings of five or more persons—including rallies, processions, sit-ins, and protests—are prohibited. The regulation also bans carrying and displaying weapons, the use of loudspeakers, and pillion riding.

Authorities said the decision was taken following intelligence reports suggesting potential threats to sensitive installations and public safety.

Officials have warned that violators of Section 144 will face strict legal action. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with authorities and adhere to the restrictions until the order is lifted.
