Karachi braces for renewed rain spell as fresh system approaches
News Desk
Islamabad: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated a fresh phase of unstable weather for Karachi, with drizzle already reported in parts of the city and more rain expected later today.
According to the Met Office, rain-bearing clouds have begun developing over the northwestern outskirts of the metropolis, signalling the start of a broader weather system. Light drizzle in areas such as Jinnah Avenue early Monday reflects a gradual shift toward wetter conditions.
The department forecasts partly cloudy skies over the next 24 hours, with intermittent rain and possible thunderstorms across different localities. Temperatures are expected to remain moderate, ranging between 29°C and 31°C, while humidity levels have risen to 76%, adding to the muggy conditions.

Officials say the current pattern is linked to a western disturbance moving into the country, which is likely to intensify weather activity across Sindh and other regions until April 9.
Several districts, including Sukkur, Larkana, and Jacobabad, may experience heavier downpours accompanied by strong winds and isolated hailstorms, while Karachi is expected to receive light to moderate rain.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution, especially during thunderstorms, as reduced visibility and slippery roads could disrupt traffic movement.
The warning comes just days after intense rainfall battered the city, exposing vulnerabilities in urban infrastructure. Widespread waterlogging paralysed traffic on April 2, while rain-related incidents claimed seven lives, most due to electrocution.
With another spell on the horizon, concerns remain over drainage capacity and public safety if rainfall intensifies again.
