Google has released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 6 for eligible Pixel smartphones, marking a major milestone in the development cycle as the first quarterly update reaches Platform Stability.

The latest build, vCP31.260618.005, is now available for enrolled beta testers using the Pixel 6 series and newer devices. Reaching Platform Stability means Google has finalized the core app-facing APIs and system behavior, allowing developers to focus on compatibility while the company prepares the update for its stable public release.

Unlike previous beta versions, Beta 6 is a relatively small update focused on improving stability and fixing a handful of remaining issues.

Among the key fixes, Google has resolved a visual glitch affecting the media carousel in Quick Settings during rapid swipes. It has also addressed a bug that caused the volume buttons to behave unexpectedly within the Clock app.

Other improvements include:

  • A fix for the inability to select multiple spell-checker languages.
  • A WindowManagerGlobal issue that caused certain apps to crash.
  • A correction for Wi-Fi hotspot settings that displayed a generic default SSID instead of the user’s custom hotspot name.

The release comes just a week after Beta 5, which delivered a larger batch of bug fixes, including solutions for disappearing home screen widgets, Game Dashboard issues, and Always-On Display screen freezes.

With Platform Stability now achieved, Android 17 QPR1 is entering its final testing phase, bringing Google one step closer to rolling out the stable update to Pixel users in the coming weeks.
