Global Attention on Four-Nation Meeting to Broker Ceasefire

Islamabad: Pakistan has stepped up its diplomatic efforts to help defuse tensions involving Iran, as a high-level meeting of regional foreign ministers is set to take place in the federal capital today.
The meeting, to be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, will be attended by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt. The visiting dignitaries have arrived in Islamabad on Dar’s invitation, with the Saudi foreign minister expected to land this morning.
The foreign ministers of the three countries are also scheduled to hold a joint meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss coordinated efforts for regional peace.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan remains actively engaged in dialogue with Iran and is pursuing a peaceful resolution with “honesty and good faith.” He added that several friendly countries are fully cooperating with Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.
Meanwhile, Dar also held a telephonic conversation with the Prime Minister of Qatar, during which both leaders underscored the urgent need to reduce tensions in the region.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office of Pakistan, the Qatari leadership appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.
The meeting in Islamabad is being seen as a significant step in Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach to rally regional consensus for de-escalation and conflict resolution.
