Girl Shot Dead by Brother in Suspected Honour Killing

Gujar Khan: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly shot dead by her brother following a family dispute in Gujar Khan, Rawalpindi district, with police registering a murder case over the incident.

According to police, the shooting took place near Sukho Road in the Gujar Khan area. The girl’s father alleged that his son opened fire on his daughter, killing her.

The father told police that his daughter had left home during a holiday in January and later married a man. She subsequently moved to Karachi with her husband and had been living there.

According to the victim’s family, the girl’s brother travelled to Karachi four days before the incident, reconciled with his sister and brought her back to Gujar Khan.

The father said his son then took the girl and her husband to a rented house. When he visited the residence the following day, he heard a commotion inside.

He alleged that his son pulled out a pistol when he saw the family members and opened fire at the girl.

Police have registered a murder case and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Further details regarding the motive and the suspect’s whereabouts were not immediately available.
