Police Arrest Woman After Acid Attack on Man

Peshawar: A woman was arrested after allegedly throwing acid at a young man and opening fire at him in Peshawar’s Chamkani area following a dispute over marriage, police said.
According to Chamkani SHO Fawad Khan, the accused allegedly threw acid at Siddiqullah before firing at him. The attack left parts of the young man’s face and neck affected, while the woman also suffered burns to her hands after coming into contact with the acid.
Both the suspect and the injured man were taken to Lady Reading Hospital for medical treatment. Doctors said Siddiqullah’s condition was out of danger.
Police said the two had previously been on friendly terms. According to the FIR, the situation escalated after Siddiqullah refused to marry the woman.
The injured man alleged that the accused had been blackmailing him and had demanded Rs2 million from him.
SHO Fawad Khan said the woman’s mental health was also being assessed and that investigators were examining all aspects of the incident.
A case has been registered, and police have launched a further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
